Abernethy Named Keynote Speaker for AMIA 2014

Amy P. Abernethy, MD, an Associate Professor in Duke University Schools of Medicine and Nursing, the Director of the Duke Center for Learning Health Care (CLHC) in the Duke Clinical Research Institute, and the Director of the Duke Cancer Care Research Program (DCCRP) in the Duke Cancer Institute, has been invited to be the Opening Session Keynote Speaker for the AMIA 2014 Annual Symposium in Washington, DC in November. Dr. Abernethy is an oncologist, palliative medicine specialist, and internationally recognized expert in health services research and delivery in patient-centered care. She is an advocate for patient engagement in their care and was the thought leader for the development of the Assessment, Survey, and Questionnaire (ASQ), a data collection system that accepts information from a customized survey or case report form entered using a mobile device, laptop, or desktop prior to the patient being seen in the clinic.
